HOW TO: STYLE BLACK & GOLD

Isn’t this view of Dallas gorgeous?! A rooftop view makes up for all the things wrong about my apartment…somewhat. I love this city!
Skirt: Forever21 | Sweater: Forever21 | Statement Necklace: Courtney Bib by BaubleBar | Ring: Naomi ring by Kendra Scott | Pumps: Darron by BCBG | Clutch wallet: Ivanka Trump | Sunglasses: Club Masters by Ray-Ban

If you guys have never raided the Forever21 ‘Buy one, get one free’ sale rack… YOU’RE NUTS. I got this sweater and skirt for $10.99. WUT. I also got a two-piece sequin outfit for $10.99 (see it on Instagram here). There’s nothing wrong with the items, they’re just purging for the new season. Go, go, go!!

I used to be big on always wearing black. When I started blogging, I thought I ought to blog about more than just me in my 21498320 black tops so I ventured out and bought more color. But of course…after purging a ton of the black in my closet, here we are again. Hehe!

Black and gold outfits can get kind of tricky. One wrong move and you could be looking like 2 Chainz or MC Hammer (which is cool if that’s what you’re going for lol).

Here are a few tips on how to style black and gold outfits:

1) Try and wear different textures/materials if you’re wearing a black top and black bottoms.
See how I wore a black leather skirt with a cotton-knit sweater? This breaks up your blacks to give your outfit more dimension.
2) Go subtle with your gold accessories (except for the statement necklace of course).
For this outfit, a statement necklace should be the focal point of your outfit so don’t go subtle on that! As for your bag and shoes, I suggest NOT wearing all gold shoes and an all gold bag. It takes away from your clothes itself and takes focus away from your statement piece. In a different outfit, you could wear an all gold clutch but go subtle with your necklace and shoes. Get my point?
3) Show a little skin!
This crop top sweater isn’t really pictured well because I’m a little self-conscious about my tummy. But the crop is a great way to break up your blacks. Wearing shorts or a skirt helps also! Just imagine a long sleeve black top with black leggings–you kinda look like a ninja right? Which I mean…ninjas are cool too.
4) Accessorize.
Accessorizing an all black outfit really completes it. Whether it be dainty pieces or flashy like my Courtney Bib! It brings it all together!
5) Have confidence.
With an all black outfit, you look slim and chic so portray some confidence girl! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL (wearing an all black outfit or in your sweatpants chillin’ with no make up on)!!!

Krista thank you so much! I'm so glad you think that about my pictures. I invested in a DSLR and my boyfriend takes my pictures. I edit them and always hope I'm doing them justice!!

Also–number 5 was my favorite also. We're all beautiful in our different ways. We should all be confident and know that!!!
